An Analytical Review of Digital Library Projects Funded by the US SMETE NSDL

促进科学、数学、工程与技术教育的发展是NSDL的宗旨。文章从项目资助资金、受助单位和内容范围等几个角度对美国科学基金会（NSF）2005和2006会计年度的美国科学数字图书馆（NSDL）项目进行了综合归纳，并从馆藏建设、用户服务和促进内容传播三个方面进行了分析研究。资金、标准化和人才是影响数字图书馆建设发展的重要因素，而开源软件为低预算的数字图书馆发展提供了契机。

Looking at the last two years of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology Education （SMETE） funding for the National Science Digital Library （NSDL） projects, a number of trends are supported by data regarding the grant totals, the types of institutions awarded, and the themes of proposed subjects. After analyzing the collection building, user service and dissemination issues, and the open source tools carve out a way for the small budgets libraries.
