Situated at the eastern end of Zhejiang Province, Zhenhai used to be a strategically important place ofcoastal defence in ancient times. Zhenhai Coast Defence Historic Memorial is located at the southern foot ofZhaobao hill which sits beside the mouth of Yongjiang River. And the place itself was the ancient battlefield. Inform, the memorial is the extension of hill body and the succession of defensiveness which all the coastal defencerelics manifest. In scale and rhythem, it composites contradict0ry environmental features in different directions.In space conformation, it seeks floating continuity in the wh0le site after separating ordinary enclosures. Aboveall, the memorial is pregnant with regional image memories and hidden site spirits, and in fact it is a memorial tothe region.
