An Overview of Current Automated Essay Scoring Techniques

摘要写作是英语测试中的重要部分，也是提高英语水平的重要手段；但是作文批改需要大量人力、物力，又难以避免其主观性本质。基于统计、自然语言处理以及人工智能技术的自动作文评分给这一问题的解决带来了希望。本文综述国外主流自动作文评分技术，探讨其应用于中国英语学习者作文评分的前景。 Writing is an important part in both English testing and learning, but the manual evaluation and correction of essays cost too much and subjectivity is an unavoidable problem. Researches on automated essay scoring（AES） by computer based on statistics, natural language processing and artificial intelligence bring a promising solution to this problem. This paper analyzes current AES techniques and discusses the application of AES in Chinese EFL setting.
