An expert system for the weld groove design and selection designed with C language is described. An interface between AutoCAD and the language C is designed for the delivery of figures and data between AutoCAD and the expert system. The two step reasoning is developed with the object oriented design method, and standard and intelligent weld groove design and selection are achieved. The man machine interface is friendly, the reasoning rational, and the operation easy.
