在民族主义的诸多流派之中,自由主义的民族主义思想无疑是最具影响力的分支。自由主义的民族主义认为正义就是民族成员之间相互义务的兑现,而自由指的是个人拥有的不受任何势力干涉的自主选择自身民族归属的文化权利。既然民族是成员通过自由选择的方式而结成的集体,那么在民族国家内部,政府必须通过各种方式保证成员国家主权的承担者的身份,确定人民的价值,实现民主政治。

Liberal nationalism is the most influential branch among various schools of nationalism. Liberal nationalism believes that justice is the fulfillment of duty by the national members, and liberty is the cultural right to choose which nation to belong to. Since the nation is an association joined by its members,so in the nation-state, government must ensure the status of national sovereignty undertakers, ensure the value of people, and fulfill democratic politics by different means.
