According to the statistics by Chinese Electricity Council, power coal contracted price increased by 9% in the first half of 2007 compared with the same period of last year; according to the statistics of coal industrial association, the national averaged coal price rose by 4.67%, and power coal price soared by 13% in the first half of 2007. The issuance of the two authoritative statistics by power and coal associations representing different interests and concurrently the important bases for gov- ernment＇s decision-making is now becoming a hotspot of common concern. When and in what manner the third coal and power prices interlinking should be initiated also becomes a hot topic of disputation.
