The cognition of metaphor and its functions in English learning is basically a sort of thoughts ,which can help the learner to recognize and understand the world better, especially is meaningful in improving the English learner＇s vocabulary, pragmatic ability and cross-culture ability. In metaphor, the conception usually projects from the stronger one to the weaker one, understanding the process will better combine the new knowledge into the formed cognitive learning system, which will improve the efficiency of learning and the memory of new knowledge.
