Wang Fu-zhi's Opinion on the Development of the Theory of Inspiring

"兴观群怨"之"兴"是中国文学史和美学史上的一个重要范畴,前人孔安国、郑玄、孔颖达、朱熹等人对此都做出过解释。清人王夫之用"情"把"兴观群怨"四者统一起来,立足于他的情景观和现量说,对"兴"这一范畴做出了新的独到的解释,把我国的诗歌美学推向了一个新的高度。

The inspiring of poetry, as a part of poetic theory i. e. inspiring, observing, having fellowship and expressing reproach, is a very important category in the history of Chinese literature and aesthetics. Precursors, like Kong An-guo、Zheng Xuan、Kong Yingda、 ZhuXi and so on, have made the explanations of it before. Wang Fu-zhi made the new and original explanation to inspiring by integrating the above four categories based on his emotion-scene point of view and the theory of XianLiang, and advance the development of poetry aesthetics of our country to a new altitude.
