金、明、清政府对状元一词的界定

Definition of No.1 Scholar Given by Governments in Jin,Ming,And Qing Dynasties

早期称某人为"状元"只是民间行为,并无权威的界定。金章宗承安四年(1199年)最早给状元一词作出界定,此时距进士科创立594年。此后,明、清政府也都给状元一词做过界定。金代"状元"一词的含义跟明清是一致的,指国家级进士科考试的第一名。

At first No. 1 Scholar was called among common people, without authorized definition. In 1199 （the fourth year of Chen＇an, Zhangzong of Jin Dynasty ）, which was 594 years from the year when Jinshi was set, No. 1 Scholar was first defined. From then on, this phrase was confirmed by governments in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The meaning of No. 1 Scholar was the same in Jin Dynasty and in Ming or Qing Dynasties, indicating the top one in national exam for Jinshi.
