中国文人画的诞生早于西方现代绘画千余年,虽与欧洲各国的社会、历史及文化背景迥异,但在反抗传统观念、否定绘画技艺和强调"表现自我"诸方面却呈现出与之相通的共同特点。在粗略的比较中,中国文人画自身的特殊性及民族性闪烁着夺目的艺术光辉。

Paintings by Chinese literati appear about a thousand years earlier than modern western paintings. Both of them obviously differ in their own social, historical and cultural backgrounds. But they have a lot in common in such aspects as the idea of rebel tradition, negation of painting techniques and self- representation. Roughly speaking, paintings by Chinese literati take on the brilliant artistic splendor with its particularity and nationality.
