On cross-cultural pragmatic failure in English advertisements translated from Chinese

摘要 With the rapid development of globalization, more and more factories and companies in China are keen to put their products onto the international market. Advertising translation is the outcome of this economic trend. This paper tries to analyze cross-cultural pragmatic failure in English advertisements translated from Chinese at lexical and textual levels, and puts forward some suggestions on how to avoid cross-cultural pragmatic failure.
