这段关于茶马古道的口述历史,为中国一百多年的变迁提供了极为丰富的素材。作为一个经济学家,特别是研究制度的学者,我从中学到许多东西,特别是一个社会的经济是如何发展起来的。它不仅仅有故事,而且记载着大量的人名、地名、时间和数字。每一个事实都是有血有肉的人和人博弈而产生的。虽然我们不可能再去经历一遍,但是有了一部口述史,总算把正史以外的生活描述下来。如果我们想像力丰富,还可以感同身受地玩味一遍。
For thousands of years, there was an ancient road treaded by human feet and horse hoofs in the mountains of Southwest China, bridging the Chinese hinterland and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The road stretched across more than 4,000 kilometers mainly in China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces and the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Ma's family is a legendary horse caravan businessman in Haitong county, Yunnan.
