2006年实验室成立了能力建设专家组和实施小组，并邀请中国气象科学研究院周秀骥院士、陈联寿院士及卞林根副院长为能力建设专家组顾问。经过一年努力，实验室基本能力建设已初具规模。
In 2006, the State Key Laboratory of Severe Weather （SKLSW） set up a special expert implementation team and invited Academician Zhou Xiuji, Academician Chen Lianshou, and Bian Lingen, the Vice-President of CAMS, as scientific advisers. Through the one-year endeavor, the capability of the laboratory has taken shape.
