抽象艺术在中国大陆的发展一直是命途多舛的.由于现代史上充满着战争和动乱.这种主张艺术独立的创作倾向就难免被一次次地批判、扼杀和压制。在当代艺术蓬勃起步的年代里,激进势力把抽象当成已经过时的陈年旧货,而保守势力则认为抽象是西方腐朽文化的糟粕。在媒体对抽象置之不理.市场对抽象缺乏兴趣的前提下,中国大陆的抽象艺术家们度过了漫长而艰辛的时光.默默地坚守着自身的理想,在新世纪到来之际.在艺术市场日渐繁荣的今天,他们终于看到了熹微的曙色。
Chinese abstract art has always been suffering much during its development in the mainland. Because of the wars and disturbances in the modern history, abstract art, this kind of creation tendency that advocates independent art, is certain to be criticized, killed and suppressed. During the age that the contemporary art is rising, the radical regard the abstract art as an outdated thing while the conservative regard it as the trash of western corruptible culture. Media neglects abstract art and market loses interest in it. Though Chinese abstract artists have had a long and hard time, they still hold their own ideals.
"Chinese Abstraction" is the convergence of two rivers: one is Chinese ancient aesthetic tradition, the other is the form possibility provided by western abstraction. A series of theories about Chinese abstraction are forming an active united force, expressing the unique spirit of "Chinese Abstraction" with many convincing works and strong eastern feefings.
