A Study of the Similarities between Milton and Beethoven

英国文学家弥尔顿和德国音乐家贝多芬分属不同领域。然而,两人在很多方面具有极强的相似性和可比性,两者的创作盛期是他们分别受到革命的影响和冲击的时期。他们作品中深刻的思想性,通过文学与音乐两种不同的形式表现出来,都记载了从斗争到胜利、从黑暗到光明、从苦难到快乐的精神历程,可谓殊途同归,由此可以为文学和音乐的创作找到更多的契合点。

John Milton and Ludwig van Beethoven were majored respectively in literature and music. In the past the documents in our country focused on researching them respectively. However, these two great men shared very strong similarities. Analyzing based on their similarities, the research of them could make some more new achievements, and also find some intersections of literature and music, and some similarities between them; as well we may have more references in studying the evolution of European Art and Literature. This essay makes some comparative studies in the aspects of their transitional feature, Composition careers and their pursuit for free will. This essay aims at offering new research perspectives and references for academicians.
