Objective To explore the effects of hand-arm vibration(HAV) on the functions of central nervous system. Methods A total of 50 grinders were chosen and divided into vibration-induced white finger positive or VWF(+) group and negative or VWF(-) groups. And 28 non grinders were chosen as the control group. The changes of brain stem auditory evoked potential(BAEP),visual evoked potential(VEP) and short-latency somatosensory evoked potential(SLSEP) were tested in each group. Results Compared with the control group, the latency of each wave and interpeak latencies of BAEP prolonged significantly in VWF(+) group(P〈0.01),and the latency of Ⅲ wave and interpeak latencies prolonged significantly in VWF(-) group(P〈0.01).Compared with the control group, the latency of each wave of VEP prolonged significantly in VWF(+) group(P〈0.05),and latencies of P100 wave and N135 wave prolonged significantly in VWF(-) group(P〈0.05).Compared with the control group, the latency of N9-13 wave of ALSEP prolonged significantly in VWF(+) group and VWF(-) group(P〈0.05).Conclusion HAV can lead to the functional disorders of central nervous system.
