翻译研究和文化研究在各自的领域经历了相似的发展过程，具有相似的研究方向和研究目的。文化研究从开始时作为传统文学研究的对立面发展到越来越关注文本生产过程中的权力关系。同样，翻译研究也逐渐从对“等值”的无休止的辩论转向文本产生过程中的各种操控因素，它们都在向国际化和多元化发展。文化研究中对永恒价值的颠覆、它的“地方性”特点、它对“间性”的关注，都对重新理解翻译的定义、性质和目的提供了理论武器，也大大拓展了翻译研究的空间，为翻译研究成为一项跨学科的事业奠定了方法论基础。

Both Translation Studies and Cultural Studies as interdisciplinary fields have undergone similar processes and have led in the same direction.Cultural Studies has shifted its attention from a mere oppositional force to traditional literary studies to hegemonic relations in textual production.Likewise,Translation Studies has moved on from endless debates about equivalence to manipulating factors involved in textual production.A fundamental debate upon the notion of value,a remarkable focus on locality,and an enormous attention to interrelationship within Cultural Studies all cotribute to a new understanding of translation and considerably widening the field of Translation Studies.
