On the Metaphorical Coherence in Fiction Translation: With FIRE Metaphor as an Example

摘要本文以"火"的隐喻翻译为例,用认知语言学的隐喻观为基础,参照描写翻译学文本分析方法,对隐喻翻译问题做了更加系统深入的研究。这种系统性的认知研究向我们揭示出:隐喻翻译应注意保持小说作者创建的概念隐喻系统的连贯性,不随意"灭火",也不任意"点火"。 Based on the cognitive linguistic view of metaphor and the DTS method of comparative text analysis, this paper gives a systematic account of the translation of FIRE metaphors in an English novel. It argues that in order for a TT to achieve systematicity and accountability, it should maintain the metaphorical coherence underlying the thematic images constructed by the author.
