The process of calculating power spectrum density is introduced. The built-in function psd in Matlab used in engineering field wildly is analyzed in detail. Problems are found when built-in function psd is used to calculate power spectrum density of random signal. Based on such analysis a modification method is proposed. The correction of the modification method is shown by an calculating example.
