Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of hypertension intervention in community by specialist. Methods A community -based randomized controlled trial design was used in this study. 494 subjects were randomly selected from the previously registered hypertension patients in Funing and Kangle communities of Yinehuan city. 250 subjects in the Funing community were used as the intervention group, and 244 subjects in the Kangle community were used as the control group. The intervention group was managed by the physician specialists who participated in community hypertension and intervention, and the control group was managed by the routine third class hypertension. The changes of each index in two groups were compared 6 months after the project performed. Results The awareness rate, treatment rate and control rate were better in intervention groups than those of control group after 6 months ( P 〈 0.01 ) ; systolic pressure and diastolic pressure decreased 5.59 mmHg and 3.34 mmHg in intervention groups than those of control group after 6 months ( P 〈 0.01 ) ; weight index, blood sugar, smoking rate, alcohol intake rate and salt intake Volume respectively decreased 0.23 kg/m^2 ,0.34 mmol/L, 11.4% , 10.0% , 0.7g/day in intervention groups than those of control group after 6 months. Conclusion Hypertension specialist participating in a community hypertension and intervention project can elevate awareness rate, treatment rate, control rate, and decrease hypertension danger factors and blood pressure levels.
