Residue hydrotrcating in suspended bed, compared with residue upgrading in fixed bed, is a novel method for heavier oil hydroprocessing. The two technologies are compared in terms of composition and properties of catalysts, reaction mechanism, and process based on the suspended bed technique. It is proved that the combination of residue upgrading technology in suspended bed and in fixed bed can have their advantages respectively.
