英语与汉语分别属于两种不同的语系,但是,英语中绝大部分常用修辞格都能在汉语中找到与他们相同或相似的修辞方式。针对英汉两种语言在常用的修辞手法上存在着相似之处,而在相似之中又有各自的特点的现象,本文选其中的"明喻"与"隐喻"的应用及翻译进行比较研究。有助于我们在英汉翻译工作中正确理解原文的各种修辞手法,翻译出符合本民族文化特征的作品。

English and Chinese belong to two different language system. But we can find the similar rhetoric of English in Chinese rhetoric. Aimed at the resemblances and the differences between Chinese and English , I choose the application and translation of Chinese and English ＂simile＂ and ＂metaphor＂ to be compared. It helps to understand the rhetoric in the original text and translate English into Chinese which conformed to each other＇s cultural characteristics.
