周作人对文艺的基本问题有很多探讨,对中国二十世纪启蒙文学理论建设做出了很大贡献。他在文学批评论中主张:主观的、印象的、趣味的、抒情的艺术批评特色;:自由与宽容的批评原则以及主观合目的性的批评标准。

Zhou Zuo- ren has made fertile explorations into the basic questions about arts, which has made a significant contribution to the Enlightenment Literary theories of China in the 20th century.
