摘要:曾衍东不仅以《小豆棚》与袁枚的《子不语》、纪昀的《阅微草堂笔记》齐名,而且他还是一个大画家和画论家。有"今画"和今画论《七如题画小品》行世。他的"今画"全部是当时现实生活的反映和表现,这在清中期的画家中是极为罕见的;他的画论就当时人物、现实题材等均有一系列创新之见,对当代画家颇有参照价值。

Not only does Zeng Yandong＇s Xiao Doupeng enjoy equal fame with Yuan Mei＇s Zibuyu, Ji Yun＇s The Notes of Yue Wei Caotang, but he is also a great painter and painting theorist.
