Objective To investigate the relationship between hyperglycemia and the prognosis in patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods 45 patients with severe craniocerebral injury were divided into diabetes group( n =20) and non-diabetes group( n =25) according to case history. The blood glucose(BG) within 24 h was measured and clinical prognosis was observed after 6-month' s treatment. Results The BG in diabetes group and nondiabetes group was ( 11.2 ± 2.5) mmol/L and (9.0 ± 1.7) mmol/L respectively, which were significantly higher than that (6.1 mrnol/L) in healthy persons( P 〈 0.05).The mortality in two groups were 40.0% and 28.0% and good recovery rates were 20.0% and 36.0% respectively, there were sign/ficant differences between two groups( P 〈 0.05). Conclusion Hyperglycemia may play an important role in the prognosis for the patients with severe craniocerebral injury, and the higher the BG the worse the patients' prognosis.
