An Examination into Where Shile's Hometown Is——Three Sayings about Shile Being from Heshong County

后赵皇帝石勒(274-333)故里,有今"武乡说"、今"榆社说"、今"和顺说",所以引发争论。史学界一些同仁把晋置的武乡县(在榆社北)与今日的武乡县(在榆社南)的区域方位混为一谈,故今"武乡说"是不能成立的。晋时所治的武乡县治所,虽在今榆社县北二三十里的地方,但毁于战火,今遗址不存,况且榆社境内无石勒村庄,故今"榆社说"也是站不住脚的。石勒建立后赵政权后,别置武乡郡,郡治所随晋武乡县城,辖沾(今和顺县与昔阳县一部分)、涅(今武乡故城一带)、武乡(今榆社县北)和轑阳(今左权县)四县。和顺汉时属上党,后赵时属武乡郡地区,至今县北十多公里处尚有千年以上历史的石勒村和李阳村(镇)。李阳村(镇)即是当年与石勒争沤麻池的武乡名士李阳的故居,且留有古阁建筑、石碑等文物佐证。史称"石勒上党武乡人"确切地点,就是现在的和顺县石勒村。

About the hometown of Emperor Shile （274-333 AD） in the Houzhao Dynasty, there are three different sayings, that is, ＂Wuxiang origin＂, ＂Yushe origin＂ and ＂Heshun origin＂. Therefore, arguments about his origin have already been raised for a long time. ＂Wuxiang origin＂ is wrong because historical experts mistakenly took the ancient Wuxiang county （in North of Yushe） for the present Wuxiang county （in South of Yushe）. Although Wuxiang county in Qi Dynasty was located in the north of today＇s Yushe county, but it was destroyed by wars, in addition there has not been Shile lished Houzhao Dynasty, village within Yushe county, therefore, ＂Yushe Origin＂ Wuxiang prefecture was established. The prefecture is not reasonable. After Shile estabwas located on the Wuxiang county. The prefecture included Xiazhan （at present, part of Heshun county and Xiyang county）, Nie （at present, Gucheng area of Wuxiang county）, Wuxiang （at present, northern of Yushe county） and Liaoyan （ at present, Zuoquan county）. Heshun county belonged to the Shangdang region during Han Dynasty and belonged to the Wuxiang county during Houxzhao Dynasty. Up to now, there is Shile village and Li Yang village（township） with more than one thousand years history in the north of the county. Li Yang Village （township） is the hometown of Li Yang who confronted with Shile. The situation could be proved by existent ancient attires and buildings as well as stone tablets. Historical saying that＂Shile is from Wuxiang of Shangdang region＂ exactly means present Shile Village in Heshun county.
