This article first analyzes common mistakes in college students＇ English writings, and then probes into. the factors that affect students＇ writing ability such as shortage of English vocabulary, unsatisfying teaching situations and lack of writing enthusiasm. Finally, this article comes up with some new attempts in English writing teaching, which might provide some insights for English writing teachers.
