文化史研究中的大、小传统关系论

On the Relation of Great Tradition and Little Tradition in the Study of Cultural History

大传统和小传统,是研究上下层文化关系的通行概念,但在理解这对概念之间的关系特征方面,大致存在着六种不同的解释观点。这些观点为研究中国文化史提供了强弱不等的解释效力和借鉴价值,但需要研究者根据具体探讨对象加以理解和运用,尤其是要对亟待澄清的三个关键问题作出深入的探析。

The notions, ＂great tradition＂ and ＂little tradition＂, have been prevalent in the study of the relation between upper culture and mass culture. There are about six different viewpoints on its inner texture. Though they have been conducive to better a better understanding of Chinese cultural history, they are supposed to be elaborated or used in the light of the specific contexts in China, of which the three vital problems need further scrutiny.
