A Study on the Cognitive Features of the Metaphoric Expressions Involving the English and Chinese FACE

人体隐喻化对人类的思维和概念的形成具有重要的意义。"脸、面"是人体最重要的部位之一。运用英汉语料,对英汉"脸、面"隐喻词汇的认知特点进行对比研究,可以揭示两种语言中"脸、面"词汇在隐喻构建及运行机制方面的异同。

The metaphorization of the body part terms is very significant for the thinking way and forming concepts. Face is one of the most important body-parts. Based on the English and Chinese corpus, this paper made a contrastive study on the cognitive features of metaphoric expressions involving the English face and Chinese Lian and Mian, followed by exploring their similarity and difference in the metaphoric structuring and mechanism.
