Institutional Change and Provincial Economic Growth——A Positive Research Based on Endogeneity Perspective

首先利用主成分方法构建了各省区的年度制度指数,设计了制度的工具变量,即各省区的矿产资源禀赋和海外市场接近度,然后利用回归方程分析了制度变革对经济增长的影响。结果表明,市场化导向的制度变革直接推动了我国省区的经济增长。

This paper summarizes the recent academic research progress about the relationship between institution and growth. Based on the provincial panel data during 1987 - 2003, this paper reexamines the argument that institutional change promoting economic growth. First, the paper constructs annual institution index using principal component analysis for every province, and designs the instrumental, variables for institution, mineral resource endowment and foreign market access. The authors confirm there is the positive effect from the market - oriented institution transformation to provincial economic growth.
