The paper introduces briefly the boring ＆ milling head which is used usually in the NC gantry boring ＆ milling machine tools and the gantry machining centers, and puts forward a kind of structure of the vertical and horizontal boring ＆ milling head. The paper introduces the key feature of the vertical and horizontal boring ＆ milling head, which is designed by us, and the operating principle of its self indexing and the working process of automatic tool change.
