抗战时期,为提升民族凝聚力、激发民众爱国热情、增强抗日斗志,昆明史家以昆明报刊为平台,利用史学进行抗战宣传。昆明报刊的史学研究一度呈现繁荣之势。这时昆明报刊的史学研究具有了鲜明的时代特色。爱国主义思潮贯穿于史学研究之中,一切为抗战服务是史学研究的理论支点,重视西南边疆少数民族史研究是抗战时期昆明报刊史学研究的重要内容。抗战时期昆明报刊的史学研究工作,书写了20世纪学术史上很有意义的一页,同时也给抗战大业的最终完成提供了智力支持。

During the Anti-Japanese War, in order to improve the national cohesion, patriotic enthusiasm and strengthen the morale for anti-Japanese fight, the historians in Kunming propagated the idea of anti-Japanese war by historiography of the press as the platform, making the historiography research in press prosperous for a time. Thus the historiography research in the press of Kunming had obvious features of the time. The idea of patriotism penetrates into all the historiography research, everything centered on the war is the theoretical base of the research, and the main content of the research lies in the emphasis on the minority history research of the southwest border area. The historiography research in the press of Kunming during the Anti-Japanese War recorded a significant page on the academic history of the 19th century; at the same time, it provided intellectual support for the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
