清高耿介 清贫自守——范丹简论

A brief comment on Fan Dan

范丹,是东汉时期的一个廉吏典范,桓帝时为"莱芜长",因母丧未到任,一生清高耿介、清贫自守,有民谣"甑中生尘范史云,釜中生鱼范莱芜"称之。《后汉书》卷八十一《独行列传》本传对其事迹有比较详细的记述,从他的耻迎督邮、绝交王奂和穷居自若的表现,展示了一个古代廉吏的德行和操守,对今世也有启发和借鉴意义。

Fandan is a model of honest official in Eastem Han Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Huan, he was appointed the magistrate of Laiwu （Laiwu of Shandong province today）, but he did not take the post because his mother＇ s passing away. He was well known as noble - minded and upright, leading a life - long poor life as an official. His virtue is still enlightening even today.
