Behind Globalization:The Origin,and Diffusion of the Practice of Modernity,and the Making of World Order

从长时段的眼光观察,全球化的普遍主义话语背后隐藏着特殊的历史事实,这就是西方现代性实践的延续、深化和扩散。这种瓦解了"三个世界"国际秩序格局的扩展力量,正在以更加灵活的形式深入到主权国家内部的社会空间。未来世界是会恢复到大国争霸的现实主义旧貌呢?还是会在经济一体化中整合成一统的世界社会呢?如果全球化在超越民族国家构架的同时并没有消解现代世界体系的固有矛盾,那么文明会不会成为人们重建政治整合的守先待后之地呢?未来世界秩序的建构既取决于全球化实践自身矛盾的展开,也取决于人们解决这一矛盾的战略意志。

Behind the universalistic discourse of globalization there exist certain special historical facts,that is,the continuation,deepening and diffusion of the practice of modernity.With the structural constraints of the Cold War being removed,boundaries between the Three Worlds seem to be abolished.However,the much touted victory of liberalism over communism,rather than confirming the teleology of modernization,has brought to the surface the inherent conflicts of globalization which render the future of world order even more problematic.To review the discourses of the future of world order within the context of the challenge of globalization to the dominance of nation-states is the task of this article.
