Hekou District is a treasure house of resources. It has a coastline of 214 kilometers, a shallow water salt-production area of some 2,000 square kilometers, and over 60,000 hectares of tidal flats. The production capacity of raw salt is two million tons, petroleum reserves of 2.1 billion cubic meters and 17 billion of natural gas resources.
