This paper, having made a review of the history and development of western stylistics, has proposed the important thoughts and concepts about functional stylistics, so as to help the reader have a clear understanding of western stylistics and be able to learn current pragmatic and popular style analysis modes. At the same time, the author also expresses his hope in the theory and applied research of stylistics.
