Investigation on Profession Intentions for Nursing of Male Students of Grade 3 in Two Senior High Schools in Chengdu

目的了解高三男生报考大学时选择护理专业的意向情况,为护理教育决策提供参考依据。方法自设问卷,对93名高三男生在准备报考大学时进行调查,内容包括对护理专业的认知情况和选择护理专业的意向。结果91%的男生对护理专业不了解或只了解一点,83%对护理专业不感兴趣或仅有一点兴趣,43%认为男生从事护理专业的就业前景好或较好,但只有17%有填报护理专业的意向。结论高三男生对护理专业认识不足,家庭支持不够,是较少男生选择报考护理专业的原因。为此,应加强护理专业的宣传,树立男护士形象,充分认识男性从事护理专业的优势,注重男护士教育,提高男性对护理专业的兴趣。

Objective To explore the profession intentions for nursing of male students of grade 3 in two senior high schools and supply references for decisions of nursing education. Methods Self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate 93 male students of grade 3 in Two senior high schools, which included their cognition on nursing and their profession intentions for nursing. The results were analyzed statistically. Results 91% of them knew a little or little about the nursing, 83% showed a little or little interests on it, 43% believed that job opportunities were good in nursing, and only 17% filled in the forms of job intentions. Conclusion The reasons that few male students choose nursing as a profession are inadequate knowledge on nursing and lack of family support. Thus, it is necessary to enhance the promotion of nursing, establish the good image of male nurse, reflect the advantages of male nurses, pay attention to their education and raise their interests on nursing.
