Politeness theory is one of most heated topics in pragmatics in recent years.It is possible to treat politeness as a fixed concept,as in the idea of polite social behavior,or etiquette,within a culture. The essay mainly discusses the making of disagreements,using Brown Levinson's Politeness theory as guideline.
