Starting from the cultural breakthrough of ＂the Axes Ages＂, the paper emphasizes that difference and diversity in culture and history has been a challenge to unity and universality that philosophy pursues. Then, returning to Hegel＇s great synthesis, it discusses how to understand the present times and universal ethic as well as the possibility of moral reconstruction based on a relative shortage of theoretical resources.
