施蛰存的心理分析小说显然受弗洛伊德精神分析理论的影响,《将军底头》表现地比较典型。其随后的创作虽然已回归现实主义,但是这并非意味着他的创作彻底摒弃了现代主义的元素。

Shi Cunzhe＇s psychoanalysis novels were evidently influenced by the psychoanalysis theory of Freud of which The General＇s Head was one typical example. This did not mean the total rejection of modem elements in his writing although his subsequent writing style had returned to realism.
