Function words in lexicalization

词汇化问题,不同语言学家有不同的理解。一般认为,词汇化是指某个正在变化为(新)词的语言形式。从历史的角度看,词汇化是研究词义的历史变化过程及变化结果。在这一过程中,词的原义已无法再从词的现有各成分推知。发生词汇化后,词表达的是新的语义。到目前为止,学者们多从语义变化的角度研究实词的词汇化,语义变化也能导致虚词的产生。从语义变化引起功能变化的角度来探讨虚词的词汇化问题。

Linguists vary in their understanding of lexicalization. It is generally agreed that lexicalization refers to the linguistic form that is becoming a （new） word. Diachronically, it is the historical process and result of se- mantic change, in ＇which the original meaning can no longer be deduced from its individual elements. With lexi- calization, the word expresses a new semantic unit. So far, the scholars have studied the lexicalization of notion- al words, focusing on semantic change. In the meantime, the functional change of a word is not much dis- cussed. This paper is an approach to the lexicalization of function words from the perspective of functional change.
