The Culture of the University:Coxcombry and Innovation

浮夸文化的特点是重虚名、看表面、不重实效;创新文化的特点是只重实效、拒绝虚假。二者水火不相容。目前我国大学的创新能力弱,一个重要原因是受社会上"快速出政绩"的浮夸文化影响,大学浮夸文化盛行,不利于创新。希望大学能够建设以追求卓越、学术自由、学者自律为主要特点的务实文化,并引领社会,使整个中国社会的文化变得更纯洁和利于创新。

The characteristics of coxcombry culture are caring about empty reputation, doing eyewash, not paying attention to actual effect; the characteristic of innovative culture are only paying attention to actual effect, refuse falsely. The two things are incompatible. The innovation ability of university of our country is weak at present, one important reason is that influenced by the coxcombry culture “obtain the achievements in its post fast” from the society; the prevailing of coxcombry culture of the university is unfavorable to the innovation. Hoping the university can construct the practical culture of pursuing being outstanding, academic freedom, scholar self- discipline, and leading the society, make the culture of the whole Chinese society more pure and benefit to innovation.
