This paper summarized the research progress in the soil animal community ecology and soil micro-ecological- environment in China and abroad. The aim is to deeply research the relationship between thee, which has a directive significance in forest health and soil health. This study has also provided scientific and fundamental data for the indicative function of the soil quality change by giving a survey of the relations between soil physicochcmical properties and the soil animals like the earthworm population, predatory nematode, ants, springtails, mites, and etc. and the relativity bctweeo the soil enzyme activity and soil animals like the earthworms, termites, snails and nematodes as well. Moreover, the paper looks forward to the direction and trend in the subject research, i.e., future studies should integrate the studies of the soil animals and that of the whole agro-forestry ecosystee. By integrat- ing the soil animal community ecology and soil micro-ecological environment, coupling the micro-ecological environment of soil animals and plant root-rhizosphcrc, linking soil animals with soil ecological health and ecological regulation and management of pests, analyzing the ingcncratc connection and mechanism, enhancing the site regulatory measure, the studies arc to offer scientific data for the health of forest and soil.
