Historic change of place names and their social cause——Taking the place names of Fuling as an example

地名词汇的变化大致有三种情况:一是新地名的产生,二是旧地名的消亡,三是地名的更改。而导致地名变化主要有两个动因,一是地名的自然改变,一是地名的强制改变。社会变迁是地名词汇变化的动因,地名词汇则是社会变迁的晴雨表,二者息息相关、时时互动。

The change of place names has three conditions such as the producing of new place names, the disappearing of old place names and the changing of place names. There are two causes to lead to the change of place names such as natural change of place names and forced change of place names. Social evolution is the cause for the change of place names and the change of place names reflects the social evolution. Social evolution is highly related to the change of place names and the two factors are interactive.
