A letter,which broke off the relations between Ji Kang and Shan Tao, makes people curious about the relations between them.The question is that why they broke off their relation because they were once good friends between each other.In this paper,the author practically analyzes Ji Kang and Shan Tao based on the literatures such as The Letter to SHAN Ju-yuan in Breaking Off Relations and Shih-shuo hsin-yu：A New Account of Tales of the World and so on to understand the conduct of Shan Tao and the friendship between Ji Kang and Shan Tao.The results indicate that their friendship was frank and unusual, that the communication between them was not using languages but was using their hearts and that they were real friends by heart and soul.
