Britain and the European Political Cooperation During the Origin of CSCE

通过考察英国确定加入欧洲政治合作机制以及两个方面的贡献,可以看出当欧共体国家决定创建欧洲政治合作机制的时候,英国即采取了积极融入的态度和政策,为了在欧安会这个欧洲政治合作的第一个重大试验场上维护西方集团的利益,英国积极构想谈判战略,并提出了相关议案在维护欧共体团结方面,发挥了比较重要和突出的作用。

This paper reviews the relations between Britain and the EPC during the period of 1970 --1975. It mainly studies two problems, one is how Britain entered the Davignon machinery and the other is the policies and strategies Britain had designed during the CSCE for the EC Nine and the Western Countries. The conclusions are that Britain held positive attitude and policies toward the EPC; it also tried its best to maintain the interest of EC and the Western Group and the unity of the Nine. So Britain owned a comparative high position and played a more important role than other members of EC.
