This paper is to be devoted to the analysis of Disgrace, the masterpiece of 2003 Nobel Prize winner Coetzee, from the perspective of humanism. It starts with the point of life instinct in modern civilization to illustrate that the novel unfolds in realism the existential plight faced by the people in the discordant and broken rhythm of modern time and that the writer exposes for us in richness, simplicity and biting honesty the hypocritical ethics and harsh rationalism through the delineation of double alienation of system and humanity, all of which demonstrates the writer's deep sympathy for humanity and his ultimate humanitarian concern for mankind.
