解析科技英语新词的产生与构成

词汇作为语言诸要素中最为易变的活性因子,它是液态的,而不是固态的。和所有其他语言一样,英语词汇的发展也是一个新陈代谢的过程,新词新义不断出现,旧词旧义不断淘汰。科学技术的迅速发展导致了大量科技新词的诞生,这样就使得作为科学领域国际通用语的英语经历了“词汇大爆炸”的发展过程。本文全面分析了科技英语新词的来源、构成特点及方式,并对诸种方法加以分析归类,并提出科技词汇的翻译必须考虑新词的科技内涵,旨在揭示科技英语词汇不断发生和接受的客观规律。

Vocabulary is the most active and changeable of all the language elements. Similar toall the other languages, English vocabulary also undergoes the progress of metabolism--appearance of new words and new meanings, and disappearance of old words and old meanings. The rapid development of science and technology leads to the birth of huge amounts of scientific neologisms incessantly, and this has made English --the most couonly-used language in the domain of science undergo the course of the ＂Words Explosion＂ development. How the neologisms are formed, what are the features and growing trend of neologisms are fully discussed in this paper. It is hoped to reveal the law of acquiring new vocabularies in scientific English.
