A Definite Proof of the Character"■"as"贾"

关于西周金文“ ”字的考释，始终未得定论。赵诚先生称“ ”是20世纪金文文字考释“争论得最激烈、最长久、参加的学者最多的”，并介绍了其概况。彭裕商先生在《西周金文中的“贾”》一文注释中罗列了主要相关学术论著，高明先生则在《西周金文“ ”字资料整理和研究》一文中汇集了学者的大部分意见，兹不赘述。

The character ＂ ＂ holds a special position among the words of the Western Zhou bronze inscriptions. It evoked a long debate in academic circles, but up to the present there still has been no unanimous conclusion on its decipherment, and many philological problems have not been solved. A comparative study of the Western Zhou inscriptions on the 兮甲 basi and 师[宀袁] gui food container as well as relative documents and Qin period slip and tablet texts suggests that ＂ ＂ and ＂叚＂ were interchangeable with each other. Analysis of the use of the character ＂肇＂ in bronze inscriptions indicates that ＂ ＂ originated from ＂ ＂ and semantic research on the character ＂宁＂ and related literal data evidences that ＂ ＂ was just ＂著＂ and ＂ ＂ was derived from ＂ ＂ Thus the character ＂ ＂ can be affirmed to be ＂贾＂ its meanings can be understood in detail, and the relative bronze inscriptions and other literal data can be read through.
