The article is intended to show plentiful contents of biomedical statistics by interpreting the physical meaning of the fourfold table with examples and discussing the statistical inference related.Part I of the paper consists of the comparison of two proportions,the singificance test of paired enumeration data,and the evaluation of diagnostic procedures.Other topics related will be included in Part Ⅱ.
